Hiring for Success

This course is designed to teach students the various techniques that can be used to fully access candidates during an interview.

Course Level
This course is for the introductory and experienced level supervisor that is responsible for recruiting and hiring employees.
Targeted learners
This course would be applicable to all hiring managers who are responsible for identifying job vacancies, creating job descriptions, and hiring employees.
Learning objectives
This course will enable learners to:
  • Identify the skills needed to create an effective job posting
  • Describe the position and create a job advertisement
  • Screen candidates to select those to be interviewed
  • List the different types of interview questions
  • Identify the laws related to interviewing and hiring

  • Online course, totaling approx. 10 hours of course material and assignments.
Out-of-scope work
It may be helpful to find video/media material for customer service examples. Several YouTube videos have been employed in this course, however, it is strongly advised to replace these videos with similar media demonstrating appropriate customer service practices like from Chester Hull.

Success Measures
The success of this course will be based on achieving the following:
  • 100% completion of all modules and discussion board.
  • A student score of 80% or higher on all written assignments and quizzes in the course.
  • A student score of 70% or better on the final course exam.
